The Beltline - Ponce City Market to Piedmont Park

Distance: about 1 mile each way, 2 miles out and back

Neighborhoods: Old Fourth Ward, Midtown

Features:  Much food! Artist's Market and other events at Ponce City Market, plus whatever is going on in Piedmont Park at any given time. You also pass by the shopping center where the Landmark Midtown Theater is.

The Beltline is busy all day and into the evening, filled with Amsterdam-esque bikers on their way to somewhere, tourists risking their necks on motorized scooters, skateboarders, joggers, and amblers like myself. Somehow people mostly avoid running into each other. Avoid making sudden turns to the right or left.

The Piedmont Park end comes out at the corner of 10th Street and Monroe, right across from Park Tavern, where you can sit outside at an umbrella table and observe life's rich pageant.

I walked the other way from Ponce City Market when my cousin and his wife were visiting and I will write a more detailed description of that route later after I walk it again but if you want food or refreshment in that direction you'll find it once you get over towards Inman Park.

There's paid parking at Ponce City Market which is convenient to the route, and parking for Piedmont Park at Monroe and Worchester which adds .7 miles each way. You can also walk to and from the Midtown and North Avenue MARTA stations, which are both about a mile away from the Beltline, turning this into a 3 mile circuit.
